Oglesby’s selections of Euphorbia milii are constant flowering, dwarf, compact, self-branching “Crown of Thorns” that develop into a symmetrical ball shape without any pruning. Excellent as a flowering pot plant in 4, 6 or 8 inch container or as a zone 10 landscape plant.
Cultural Notes:
Media Well-drained soil-less mix such as peat-perlite-bark, 1-1-1. For good crop uniformity, plant liners deep.
PH 6.5 – 7.0
Nutrition A complete balanced fertilizer such as 14-14-14 with minors. Occasional use of high phosphorous fertilizer, i.e., 9-45-15 should enhance bloom canopy and root development.
Light Full sun to 30% shade.
Disease Control Banrot, Zyban, Dithane, Cleary’s, Kocide as needed for prevention of anthracnose, botrytis, rhizoctonia, rhizopus.
Pests Snails, slugs, aphids, scale, army worms.
Other For florist quality flowering containers, grow on benches under hard cover. Blooms year-round.
Crop times: (based on Florida conditions from 98 cell pack liners)
Liners to 4″ 12 – 14 weeks
Liners to 6″ 20 – 24 weeks
Liners to 8″ 28 – 32 weeks
Spacing: Because of the very symmetrical and tight growth habit, product can be grown almost pot tight through finishing.
