SPATHIPHYLLUM SENSATION®

Sensation.jpg (9409 bytes)Unlike most other varieties of Spathiphyllum, 'Sensation' has some very distinct characteristics that offer durability with beauty and versatility. 'Sensation' is a dramatically large hybrid - the largest of all commercially produced Spathiphyllums. The foliage is dark green and tough, with an attractively ribbed texture. This is one Spathiphyllum that is popular even without being in bloom, however, intermittent blooming cycles will produce large, well shaped white flowers.

Many growers commercially produce 'Sensation' in a variety of container sizes. Nurseries and garden retailers usually purchase 8", 10" and 14" inch containers. Interiorscapers use all sizes, but larger containers 17" and 21" inches provide the interior landscaper with spectacular specimens up to 6 feet tall. It is not uncommon to find 'Sensation' used in many award-winning interior landscape designs.

The homeowner can enjoy 'Sensation' with very little maintenance. 'Sensation' should be placed in a modest, indirect light with no direct or harsh sunlight. Water only when soil feels dry 1-2 inches below soil surface or prior to foliage wilting. The time interval between watering will vary pending light, temperature, soil porosity and time of year. Feed with a well balanced liquid fertilizer quarterly. Do not over-water or allow pot to sit in water for any prolonged period of time. To discourage pests and retain natural luster of foliage, periodically bathe leaves by hand or rinse off outside with garden hose.

The NASA Study found that Spathiphyllum is one of the top 10 plants to "clean air" and help fight "Sick Building Syndrome".
